What you’ve been making with the Raspberry Pi AI Kit
It’s been just over a month since we launched the Raspberry Pi AI Kit — your gateway to experimenting with the world of neural networks, artificial intelligence, and machine learning on your Raspberry Pi 5 — and the Raspberry Pi community has responded with characteristic quirkiness. Here are some of the things we’ve seen over the last few weeks. If we’ve missed anything, point us to it in the comments section at the bottom of this page. We’ll love you forever.
Cartoon Eben
VEEB Projects get first billing in this blog solely due to their inclusion of an unmistakably Eben-like cartoon character in their build video.
VEEB built Peeper Pam: an essential tool that alerts you when your boss is nearby so you can quickly click away from your very important Zoom call… with your dog. This way, cartoon Eben won’t be complaining that you’ve always got grainy footage of an ageing toy poodle on your screen. Cartoon Eben approves of dogs on work screens only if it’s Bluey.
Monster AI
Jeff Geerling went predictably overboard and built a Monster AI Pi PC with eight neural processors. As he says, it’s “not the strangest thing [he’s] built with Raspberry Pi, but it is the most unsupported”.
Bust a move
Kevin McAleer busted out his best dance moves to test the pose estimation software. He also ran a super helpful comparison test pitting the Raspberry Pi AI Kit against Google Coral. Spoiler alert: we do pretty amazingly.
Grab a Raspberry Pint on Tuesday to learn more
Our very own Naushir Patuck is presenting at next week’s Raspberry Pint, where he’ll be introducing the Raspberry Pi AI Kit and explaining what it’s capable of. It’s a hybrid event, so if you’re not in London, UK, you can attend virtually online. They’ll also be giving away an AI Kit to one lucky attendee!
This is happening on Tuesday 16 July from 7pm-9pm BST. Raspberry Pint always takes place the last Tuesday of every month, and even though it doesn’t always have Naush, it’s always worthwhile.
Sign up for next week’s event.
